Improving the health of residents in Hillsdale County is one of priorities of the Center. This project will directly effect the mortality rate of those affected by diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Between 1994-96, Cardiovascular Disease (CVD), accounted for 39.9% of the County's total deaths. By providing a physical fitness center programs that address lifestyle changes and provide ongoing activities for people are now available.
The fitness center, which opened in February of 2005, was a high priority in the Center's campaign due to the high cost of local facilities and the unavailable of on a regular basis. The Center's facility is open to all residents 13 yrs and older. There is a nominal fee to use the fitness center.
